The government has launched the Kwahu Business Forum, a bold initiative aimed at accelerating local enterprise development, with a target of supporting over 600 businesses by the end of President John Dramani Mahama‘s current term.

Speaking at Jubilee House on Monday, April 14, 2025, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah highlighted the administration’s commitment to the project, stressing its significance at the highest level of governance.

“We are discussing it at the presidency because of the importance the President attaches to it. This is a project he wants to see succeed,” Debrah stated.

The forum, which is set to take place at Kwahu in the Eastern Region, is already drawing attention from major financial institutions.

As part of the initiative, each participating bank will select five promising and bankable projects this year. These businesses will be invited to return next year to share their experiences and progress.

“If this continues for the next five years… we’ll have over 600 enterprises to highlight as successes that President Mahama initiated,” Debrah noted.

In a move to ensure national access and transparency, GhanaWeb will stream the event live from the Mpraeso Social Centre on Saturday, April 19, 2025, allowing Ghanaians across the country and in the diaspora to follow proceedings and engage with the initiative.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to deliver the keynote address at the Kwahu Business Forum, under the theme, “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector.”

There are also plans to evolve the Kwahu Business Forum into a national platform, drawing entrepreneurs from across Ghana.

Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, hinted at broader collaborations in the future, including potential involvement from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and other key public institutions.

With strong presidential backing and public-private collaboration, the Kwahu Business Forum is poised to become a pivotal driver of entrepreneurship and economic transformation in Ghana.
