The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Abdullai Ayariga, has announced a nationwide clean-up exercise set to take place on Friday, August 2, 2025, as part of activities marking this year’s National Youth Festival.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Mr. Ayariga revealed that the day has been designated as “Youth Nationwide Clean-Up Day”, a key highlight of the ongoing festival which celebrates the power, spirit, and civic responsibility of Ghana’s youth.
The nationwide exercise is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, and will be simultaneously held across all district capitals throughout the country.
“This initiative forms part of our broader efforts to deepen youth engagement and promote community service,” Ayariga stated. “We urge all young people and youth-led organisations to actively participate in this exercise, which is not only about environmental sanitation but also about national unity and social responsibility.”
The clean-up forms one of many activities scheduled during the National Youth Festival, a government-backed initiative that aims to showcase youth excellence, promote patriotism, and foster dialogue between young people and national stakeholders.
Ghanaians across the regions are being encouraged to take part in the clean-up and other festival events under the banners #YouthFestival and #YouthPower.
The NYA boss further emphasized that youth involvement in such nationwide activities is a powerful demonstration of their role in national development and civic transformation.
