Spanish giants Barcelona have secured the signing of Ghanaian beach soccer player Alexander Adjei from Sea Sharks club.

The player has been one of the best beach soccer players in Ghana and on the African continent, after emerging as the top scorer of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) twice.

The Sea Sharks’ skipper scored 17 goals at the 2015 Seychelles tournament and another 11 in Egypt at the 2024 edition, where Ghana missed out on World Cup qualification.

The Brazilian coach of Barcelona Beach Soccer club, Leo Brraga, noted that the team is delighted with Adjei’s signing and wishes him the best in the upcoming season.

“This is a very exciting moment for the club and also for Alex, because we have been monitoring his development for some time, and we believe he can improve our team,” he said, as reported by myjoyonline.com.

On the other hand, Adjei indicated that his dream has come to fruition and he will continue to make Ghana proud after the official announcement of the deal.

“It’s a dream come true. I’ve worked hard for this moment, and I’m proud to be carrying the flag of Ghana into the international arena,” he said in excitement.

The move has made Adjei the first Ghanaian beach soccer player to secure a move to play for a foreign club at a professional level in his career.
