Ghanaian international hockey umpire Adimah Aziz has been appointed to officiate at the FIH Men’s World Cup Qualifier Playoffs, scheduled for March 1–7 in Ismailia, Egypt.

The invitation from the International Hockey Federation follows a string of impressive performances at domestic and continental levels. Aziz has overseen 37 international matches as an umpire and served as Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in six others across countries including England, the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Austria, China and Egypt.

In 2025, he was appointed VAR for the final between Korea and Kazakhstan at the Asian Cup in Bihar, India, and also officiated the final of the 15th National Games of China.

Expressing pride in his latest appointment, Aziz described it as recognition for his performance at the African qualifiers, also held in Ismailia. He noted that the playoff tournament is reserved for top-performing umpires from across the continents.

Aziz said he feels no added pressure but acknowledged the high standards required at elite events, adding that preparation remains key. He also expressed hope that more Ghanaian officials will rise through the ranks.

Fellow Ghanaian Isaac Graham will join the tournament as a technical official.
