Dr Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, once again demonstrated his commitment to engaging with Ghanaian nationals in Russia by attending a thrilling football match at the Spartak Moscow Stadium on Saturday, December 6, 2025 .

The match, which pitted Spartak Moscow Football Club against Dynamo, ended one goal apiece. The ambassador was accompanied by the Head of Chancery of the Ghana Mission in Moscow.

Dr Jehu-Appiah, along with his member of staff watched the match from the VIP section through the generosity of Ivan Romanovsky, the Vice President of Lukoil for the Americas, Africa and Middle East, the owners of Spartak Moscow Football Club.

The ambassador’s presence at the stadium was, primarily, to support Alexander Dkiku, a Ghanaian footballer who plays for Spartak Moscow and also a member the Ghana Black Stars Team.

After the match, Ambassador Jehu-Appiah took the opportunity to speak with Djiku, urging him to maintain his excellent form as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The ambassador’s message was a timely reminder of the importance of Djiku’s contribution to the Ghana senior national male football team.

The meeting with Djiku underscores Ambassador Jehu-Appiah’s dedication to engaging with Ghanaian nationals in Russia and promoting Ghanaian talents under his jurisdiction.

Addressing a gathering of Russian media representatives who were delighted to see the ambassador at the stadium, he expressed optimism that the Black Stars of Ghana would excel during the World Cup.

In response to a question regarding the possibility of a friendly match between Ghana and Russia in the lead-up to the World Cup, the ambassador stated that the decision rests with the Ghana Football Authority.
