Theophilus Allotey has been crowned WBA Africa Super Flyweight Champion after extending his unbeaten record to 14-0 with victory over Namibia’s Jonas Erastus.
The triumph marks his fifth title in 16 months, adding to his WBO Global, WBO Africa and UBO Africa belts.
The bout also saw John Laryea retain his WBA Africa Featherweight title with a stoppage win, further strengthening his push for a world title shot.
Veteran boxing consultant Yoofi Boham has tipped Allotey, Laryea, Daniel Gorsh and Samuel Takyi to win world titles within the next two years if properly managed.
Boham urged promoters to organise more international bouts in Ghana to showcase local talent, while calling for greater investment in the sport. He also expressed confidence in the national amateur team’s chances at upcoming global competitions.
