Hayford Addai delivered a sensational performance to win gold for Ghana in the Men’s T47 100 metres at the 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Prix, clocking an impressive 11.09 seconds.

Representing Ghana at the prestigious international competition, Addai had earlier claimed bronze in the 400 metres. He returned to the track with renewed determination and blistering pace, powering through the T47 100m final to secure his first Grand Prix gold medal in emphatic fashion.

The 11.09-second finish highlights his rapid rise on the global para-athletics stage and strengthens his bid for direct qualification to the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Athletics analysts and team officials say the performance cements Addai’s status as one of Ghana’s brightest medal prospects heading into the Games.

Speaking after the race, an elated Addai dedicated the victory to those who have supported his journey.

“I dedicate this gold medal to my coach, Emmanuel Sowah, whose guidance and belief in me have been unwavering. I also thank my teammates, Botsyo Nkegbe and Zinabu Issah, for their constant motivation and inspiration. This victory is for Ghana,” he said.
