Hayford Addai has reinforced his growing reputation as one of Ghana’s most exciting para-athletics prospects after clinching gold and securing qualification for the 2026 Commonwealth Games with an outstanding performance in Rabat.

The 18-year-old triumphed in the men’s T47 200m at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Morocco, clocking an impressive 22.62 seconds to finish top of the field. The victory not only highlighted his rapid development but also confirmed his place at the upcoming Games in Glasgow, where he is expected to compete in multiple events.

Addai’s latest success completes a remarkable double this season, following his gold medal in the T47 100m at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai earlier this year. His performances underline his emergence as a serious contender on the international stage.

The Konongo Odumase Senior High School student is part of a growing Ghanaian contingent heading to the Games, alongside Zinabu Issah and Bostyo Nkegbe.

Officials from the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana have praised his progress, stressing that sustained investment and structured development will be key to unlocking his full potential.
