General Manager for Accra Great Olympics, Eric Alagidede has said that Ghanaians do not have the power to stop the third term ambitions of Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku.

According to him, only Congress made up of football administrators can stop Kurt Okraku’s third term bid because Ghanaians who are a critical component in the football ecosystem don’t have voting rights to make any decision.

In an interview on Asempa FM on Thursday August 7, 2025, Eric Alagidede stated that, the general public doesn’t have the mandate to vote and can only express their opinions with their voice.

“Yes we will listen to the opinions of other people who are interested in the good of football, but ultimately it’s the votes that counts and makes the difference not the voice”.

“So members of Congress will decide on whether they want the GFA president to go for a third term or not because they are the ones who spend their monies to finance the activities of the clubs in Ghana,” he said.

This development comes after FIFA approved GFA’s proposal to extend the presidential term to three terms with okraku reportedly likely to run again.

The proposed amendment will be decided by 124 eligible Congress members at the upcoming meeting, scheduled to take place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on August 12, 2025.
