The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are facing intense backlash after scheduling FA Cup matches from Friday, February 21, to Sunday, February 23, 2025, despite ongoing calls for justice and safety reforms following the tragic death of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley.

While the GFA suspended Ghana Premier League matches in response to the incident, Division One League games have continued, with further chaos erupting over the weekend.

Despite appeals from stakeholders and fans for the FA to temporarily halt all football activities in the country, the GFA have decided to proceed with the FA Cup fixtures.

This decision has sparked widespread outrage, with many Ghanaians taking to social media to express their disappointment and frustration over what they perceive as misplaced priorities.

Critics have accused the GFA of insensitivity, with some urging clubs to boycott the matches as a form of protest to demand justice for Pooley and reforms to improve the state of Ghanaian football.
