Frustration is mounting among Ghanaian travellers after ITA Airways and KLM cancelled several flights, leaving passengers stranded at airports without adequate support or accommodation.

Hanson Dartey, scheduled to travel on KLM flight 590, described the experience as deeply frustrating.

“They keep on frustrating Ghanaians. You come here, they cancel the flight without proper notice… It’s very bad,” he said.

Another passenger, speaking anonymously, recounted a similar ordeal with an ITA Airways flight to Italy.

“They said the flight was cancelled, and the passenger has nowhere to sleep.

There’s no further information,” the passenger said.

Some affected travellers were even advised to call Italy or Spain to resolve their issues—despite it being outside office hours—leaving many stranded with limited options for accommodation.

Passengers are now calling for stronger accountability and better service from both airlines.

“We urge the Minister of Transport to ensure that flights operating to Ghana maintain proper standards and that Ghanaians enjoy the same rights as passengers elsewhere,” one passenger said.

The cancellation of KLM flight 590, which was scheduled to fly to Ghana, has raised additional concerns about potential technical issues, with some travellers urging a formal investigation to prevent possible accidents.

Reports have also highlighted unsatisfactory customer service from airline staff, described by some passengers as “unwelcome” or unhelpful.

Travellers are appealing to the Ghanaian government to intervene and ensure that airlines provide timely assistance, alternative arrangements, and proper communication in cases of flight cancellations.
