A famous Ghanaian peace and unity promoter, Ahaji Adam Yakubu Imoro Ayaana has revealed his intention to embark on a marathon walk dubbed, “Africa Unity Walk,” from Ghana to Burkina Faso, scheduled for October 2025.
The 65-year-old in an exclusive interview said the expedition will commence at the Independence Square in Accra.
According to him, the walk is to show maximum support for Burkina Faso’s incumbent military ruler, Captain Ibrahim Traore’s Pan-African transformational leadership.
Alhaji Ayaana also clarified his objective to inculcate Pan-African patriotism in the youth for promoting the continents peace, unity and development.
The early part of 2025, Alhaji Ayaana marched from Kumasi to Accra in honor of President John Dramani Mahama’s return to office, following his unprecedented victory in the December 2024 general elections.
He set off from the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi and covered an impressive 250 kilometers for the swearing-in ceremony on January 7, 2025.
Remarkably, in 1997, he walked from Tamale to Accra for the second-term investiture of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
On March 7, 2009, he organized a 16-kilometer peace and health walk in Tamale and emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and wellness.
Alhaji Ayaana is celebrated for similar historic walks in Nigeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America (USA).
In 2002, he reportedly walked from Chicago to New York Ground Zero, for the first Anniversary of the September 11, bombings in the USA.
