Ghanaian football fans have taken to social media to express disbelief and frustration over the ticket prices announced for the upcoming Super Clash, describing them as inflated for a local league match.

Accra Hearts of Oak will face Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

The highly anticipated clash has always attracted massive interest, but this time, the spotlight is on the pricing rather than the players.

With VIP and standard ticket prices significantly higher than usual, fans quickly flooded social media with humorous and sarcastic commentary.

Many argued that the current state of the Ghana Premier League does not justify such high prices, citing the league’s declining quality and low attendance in recent years.

Several commenters pointed out that even Black Stars matches, featuring top international players, are often more affordably priced.

As a result, many questioned why a local league match should cost more than a national team fixture, especially when interest in the Ghana Premier League continues to wane.

The general sentiment is that the ticket fees are out of touch with both the quality of the product on offer and the economic realities faced by the average Ghanaian supporter.

Despite the backlash, both clubs are under pressure to deliver on the pitch. Hearts of Oak currently sit 6th on the league table, eight points behind leaders Goldstars, and are hoping to mount a late title charge.

Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, are 4th and just three points off the top, keeping their title hopes very much alive. With both giants still in contention, the Super Clash remains a crucial fixture, but whether fans will show up in large numbers remains to be seen.
