Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel Quartey, through the Emmanuel Quartey Foundation, donated assorted items worth hundreds of cedis to the Weija Leprosarium Centre on Sunday, January 5.

The items presented included bags of rice, gallons of oil, a carton of milk, toiletries, and an amount of GH¢500.

The donation was part of the boxer’s commitment to supporting the less privileged and putting smiles on their faces.

Quartey was accompanied by his manager, Gideon Owusu Boamah; Coach Kofi Van Hybels; and publicist Solomon Kumi-Yeboah.

According to Quartey, the initiative has been ongoing for the past three years, and he aims to continue it.

“Last year, we donated to young street children in Bukom, and the year before, we were at the Osu Children’s Home. I always want to share with people, and I’m very elated to have been doing this since 2021,” he said.

Quartey’s manager, Gideon Boamah, praised the boxer for his kind gesture.

“The fact that Emma is not rich, but he always wants to share the little he has, tells you the kind of person he is. We are excited to do this, and we look forward to continuing this next year to put smiles on their faces,” he added.

Receiving the items, Caleb, a supervisor at the center, thanked the team for their kind deed. He also encouraged other boxers and sports athletes to emulate the same example to help lessen the plight of the centre.
