Joseph Awinongya Jr continued his impressive rise in international boxing after securing a podium finish at a recent tournament in Bulgaria.
The teenage sensation, who represents the United States but is of Ghanaian parentage, stepped up from the youth division to compete among elite fighters and delivered a strong performance against some of the world’s best boxers.
Ranked 10th in the world in his weight class, Awinongya faced top-ranked Turabek Kabibullaev during the competition. Despite the tough challenge, the young boxer impressed and finished in third place, earning a bronze medal.
Awinongya expressed gratitude to his supporters after climbing the podium, noting that the experience of competing against higher-ranked opponents has helped him grow.
Now part of the Elite High Performance Team, the rising star believes the tougher competition will help him continue his development in the sport.
