Team Ghana clinched two medals on Day 3 of the ongoing CAA U-18/U-20 African Athletics Championship at the M.K.O. Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

Ghana’s first medal came courtesy of Tettey Philip Odjer, who claimed silver in the men’s Under-18 400m with a time of 47.87 seconds.

Arthur Mahalalel Kwasi added bronze to Ghana’s tally after placing third in the men’s Under-18 110m hurdles with a time of 13.95s.

Reflecting on his silver medal win, Tettey Philip Odjer expressed his excitement about being the first to win a medal for Ghana.

“I was hoping to win gold coming into the final, but I’m grateful nonetheless. I came here with the aim of winning gold, but it didn’t materialize. Still, I’m thankful to God for this opportunity,”he said.

Meanwhile, Arthur Mahalalel Kwasi, who won bronze in the men’s 110m hurdles, shared his elation at securing a medal in his first international competition.

“This is my first competition, and I’m overjoyed to have won a medal. It’s an incredible feeling!” he noted.
