Ghana’s U17 national team, the Black Starlets, will discover their group stage opponents for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2026 when the official draw is held on Wednesday, April 8, in Cairo.
The draw ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football at 16:00 GMT, setting the stage for what promises to be a highly competitive tournament.
Scheduled to run from May 13 to June 2, 2026, in Morocco, the competition will feature 16 of Africa’s top youth teams battling for continental glory.
Ghana secured qualification after finishing second at the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship 2025 in Ivory Coast, marking their return to the tournament for the first time since 2017.
Beyond continental honours, the tournament also offers a route to the global stage. Eight quarter-finalists will automatically qualify for the next FIFA U-17 World Cup, with two additional best third-placed teams completing Africa’s ten प्रतिनिधatives.
The draw is expected to shape Ghana’s campaign as preparations intensify.
