The 11th edition of the Ghana National Theatre Festival has officially opened in Accra, with a strong call to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through the performing arts from September 23 to September 28.

The six-day event, launched by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, is being held under the theme “Showcasing the Rich Diversity of Ghanaian Culture Through Performing Arts.”

The festival brings together theatre groups, musicians, dancers, and artists from across the country to celebrate Ghanaian identity through drama, music, dance, and exhibitions.

According to the Minister, the event highlights the role of theatre in national development, education, and storytelling.

This year’s edition pays tribute to the late Mohammed Ben Abdallah, a pioneer of Ghanaian theatre, whose work shaped the industry and inspired a new generation of performers.

The festival, which runs for six days, will host stage plays, music concerts, dance performances, and cultural showcases at the National Theatre in Accra.
