The Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) has successfully organized the 2025 National Wheelchair Tennis Juniors Training Clinic at the Army Mess Tennis Club (AMTEC).

The one-day program brought together 50 junior wheelchair players and 8 coaches from across the country.

The clinic aimed to build technical skills, improve performance standards, and prepare young athletes for international competition. Coaches were introduced to updated training modules and rules, while players engaged in both drill and competitive sessions designed to sharpen their game.

Beyond training, the clinic also served as a selection platform for athletes who will represent Ghana at the upcoming Africa Junior Training Clinic in South Africa this October.

National Wheelchair Tennis Coach, Yahya Macauley, commended the initiative, noting its dual role in player development and talent identification.

“This program is crucial as it helps us select players for the international stage. I’m very pleased with the level of training and hopeful that corporate sponsors will support us in achieving even greater success,” he said in an interview with Metro Sports.

The Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Team is set to compete in South Africa in October 2025, marking another milestone in the federation’s efforts to promote inclusivity and excellence in the sport.
