Ghana international Thomas Partey is set to depart La Liga side Villarreal this summer upon the expiration of his contract, having failed to secure a regular role under head coach Marcelino.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who joined the Yellow Submarine following his exit from Arsenal, has struggled to cement a place in the starting lineup.

Since his arrival, Partey has made just 18 appearances across all competitions, accumulating a total of 943 minutes on the pitch.

According to reports, manager Marcelino has informed the club’s hierarchy that the former Atlético Madrid and Arsenal player does not feature in his long-term plans and will not be offered a contract extension.

As a result, Partey is expected to become a free agent when his current deal concludes on June 30, 2026.

This decision is understood to be influenced by sporting considerations, as the club reportedly seeks a different profile for its midfield, and financial factors, given Partey’s significant wage.

According to the transfer valuation website Transfermarkt, the experienced Ghana star currently holds an estimated market value of 5 million.

The pending departure will bring a brief chapter at Villarreal to a close for Partey, who will now need to find a new project as he enters the latter stages of his professional career.
