Ghana has initiated discussions with India to enhance cooperation in agricultural technology and infrastructure development, aiming to accelerate economic growth and sustainable development.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, made the announcement during his visit to India, where he met with his Indian counterpart, His Excellency Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on March 17, 2025.

Mr. Ablakwa emphasized Ghana’s eagerness to collaborate with India, specifically in agricultural technology and infrastructure development. He highlighted India’s expertise in irrigation systems, mechanization, and food processing as crucial areas where Ghana aims to make significant strides to boost agricultural productivity.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with India to enhance our agricultural sector and infrastructure. India’s experience in these areas offers invaluable opportunities for knowledge exchange and investment,” he said.

The minister also expressed Ghana’s desire to benefit from India’s advancements in road construction, energy, and urban planning to support the country’s ongoing modernization efforts.

In addition to bilateral cooperation, Mr. Ablakwa commended India for advocating for the African Union’s (AU) inclusion in the G20, calling it a significant step toward a more inclusive global economic order.

“With Africa’s rising economic influence, it is essential for the continent to have a seat at the table where critical global economic policies are shaped,” he remarked.

Mr. Ablakwa’s visit, following an invitation from the Indian government, underscores Ghana’s commitment to strengthening ties with India, paving the way for enhanced trade, investment, and technology transfer between the two nations.
