Former Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie has pointed to the Ghana Premier League’s lack of credibility as a key reason behind the difficulty in securing headline sponsors.
Unlike last season, the 2024/25 season was launched without a title sponsor or a primary broadcast partner, which featured dedicated TV rights.
In an interview with Citi Sports, Afriyie, who once served on CAF’s Marketing and TV Rights Committee, underscored that the league’s current structure fails to attract corporate sponsors.
“The product simply isn’t attractive enough to draw in corporate investment.
“I mean for them and those in administration they think that they are doing very well but people like Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo have been around for so many years and know how Ghana football has been run over the years and that if Mr Fianoo says Kurt Okraku has failed, that’s a fact.
“First of all, they should take their hands off the running of the Premier League,” he said.
