The Ghana Police Service has firmly dismissed viral rumours alleging the death of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 30, and posted on the Service’s official X account, the Police said it had taken notice of misleading online claims suggesting the IGP had passed away. The Service described the reports as entirely untrue.
According to the statement, Mr. Yohuno is alive, healthy, and actively performing his duties. It urged the public, police personnel, and the IGP’s family to disregard the misinformation.
The Police further condemned the circulation of the false report, calling it a “malicious and reckless” act. It cautioned that spreading disinformation constitutes an offense and warned that individuals found responsible will be held accountable under the law.
