The Minister of Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has disclosed that the government requires an estimated $6 billion to effectively implement a comprehensive flood control program.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, he acknowledged the recurring flooding challenges across the country and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to the menace.

“The ministry estimates that an investment of approximately six billion dollars is needed to implement comprehensive flood control measures across the country,” he stated.

Adjei also emphasised the importance of developing sustainable and inclusive infrastructure to safeguard the environment.

“We remain committed to building a Ghana that is flood-resilient, climate-smart, and safe for all citizens. With the support of Parliament, stakeholders, and the public, we can turn this crisis into an opportunity to build sustainable, inclusive infrastructure and protect our environment,” he added.
