Accra – November 19, 2025 – The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has inaugurated the governing boards of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB), charging members to provide strategic leadership and uphold high standards of accountability in delivering their mandates.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony in the Ministry’s conference room in Accra, the Minister said the inauguration, described as long overdue, marks a major step toward strengthening the cultural and creative sectors.

She thanked the board members for accepting the appointments and urged them to commit to integrity, professionalism and national service.

The Minister outlined the boards’ core responsibilities, including aligning programmes with national priorities, promoting transparency and good governance, ensuring effective resource management and building stakeholder partnerships.

She further expressed confidence in the calibre of members appointed and acknowledged President John Dramani Mahama for approving the nominations.

Declaring the GMMB Board duly inaugurated, she emphasized that the survival and effectiveness of the institution depend largely on the quality of leadership the board provides.

The Chair of the GMMB Board, responding on behalf of members, described the appointment as a privilege, noting that many Ghanaians were equally qualified.

He pledged that the board would not disappoint the President and would work diligently to deliver on its mandate.

In a related development, the Creative Arts Agency Board Chair, Anthony Obeng Afrane, who was also sworn into office alongside, reiterated that his role was not ceremonial but a call to duty. He vowed to lead with dedication and to foster an environment where artists can be supported and empowered.

The Board members include ; Michael Attipoe (Chairperson), Kwesi Essiel-Blankson, Vitus Otto Langmagne, Adul Manaf Baba Walker, Catherine Abla Nutsugah Mikado, Benedict Kwasi Obeng and Prof Frederick Dayor.

Chief Director of the Ministry, Joseph Kwasi Amoah, welcomed members of both boards and underscored the critical nature of their roles, urging them to live up to expectations.
