Democratic Republic of Congo players have proclaimed Ghana as the new giant of Africa after eliminating Nigeria from the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff.
DR Congo on Sunday, November 16, 2025, defied the odds to win the playoff final after beating Nigeria 4-3 in the penalty shootouts at the Stade Prince Moulay Hassan in Rabat, Morocco.
The Leopards have now qualified for the inter-continental playoff in March 2026 as they push for a return to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since the 1974 edition in West Germany.
