The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) kicked off its Insurance Awareness Month celebration with a fun-filled event at the University of Ghana, Legon.
This year’s sporting event, dubbed “Insurtainment,” brought together industry professionals for a day of fun, games, and education.
The initiative aimed to promote the importance of insurance and make it more accessible, not only to the elite but also to the general public, including the informal sector, which accounts for about 80% of the country’s working population.
Using the occasion to engage and educate the public, industry leaders emphasised the need for Ghanaians to prioritize insurance, citing its role in providing financial security and protecting lives.
They highlighted the association’s ongoing efforts to design policies that address diverse needs, making insurance more inclusive and responsive.
The event encouraged attendees to view insurance not just as a product, but as an essential part of life, focused on risk management and protection.
Through initiatives like Insurtainment, the GIA aims to promote a culture of insurance awareness while encouraging the public to pay appropriate premiums for the risks they want to cover.
With participation from over 45 life and non-life insurance companies, reinsurers, micro-insurance firms, brokers, and agents, the event was a vibrant gathering that saw even top executives stepping out of their offices to engage in various sporting disciplines.
The 2025 Insurance Industry Fun Games brought together talent from across the sector, offering a platform to showcase athleticism, teamwork, and camaraderie through exciting competitions.
Participating companies demonstrated impressive energy and determination, earning recognition in the form of trophies and medals awarded across multiple categories.
This year’s line-up featured a range of disciplines, including football, table tennis, athletics, volleyball, tug-of-war, and other indoor games.
