Ghana Gas Limited has redeemed a pledge of GH¢5 million to the Ghana national football team World Cup Fund as part of efforts to support the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The presentation was made on Thursday, alongside other major corporate contributions, including GH¢3,000 from Ecobank Ghana, GH¢1.13 million from Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, GH¢1 million from Absa Bank, and GH¢250,000 from OmniBSIC Bank. Officials of OmniBSIC were present at the Ministry of Finance in Accra to make a symbolic handover to Deputy Finance Minister and Chairman of the Black Stars World Cup Fundraising Committee, Thomas Nyarko Ampem.

The fundraising initiative, launched by President John Dramani Mahama in March, is targeting US$30 million from corporate organisations and the general public to boost Ghana’s preparations for the global tournament.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, which will be staged in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, setting up a challenging campaign for the West African side as they aim to make an impact on the world stage.
