The Eagles of Ghana had a disappointing campaign in the rugby Africa Women’s sevens tournament which took place at the University of Ghana rugby stadium from from November 9 to 10, 2024.

Ghana’s rugby team was placed in Pool B with Kenya, Madagascar and Mauritius. The team managed to secure a 29-10 victory against Mauritius.

However, their next two matches did not go well as they lost to Kenya 10-5, and went on to record another defeat to Madagascar 31-12.

Despite the two defeats, Ghana managed to qualify for the quarter-final stage where they were humiliated by Kenya by 48-0.

In their next game against Tunisia, Ghana lost by 17-7 to the North African side.

Ghana beat Senegal in the last match to secure the seventh position among the twelve participating teams.

After six matches, The Eagles won two and recorded four defeats.

It is worth noting that Ghana has made history as the first West African country to host the competition.

South Africa won the trophy following their 17-10 victory against Kenya in the finals.

South Africa have won the title for the second successive time to cement their status as the best in Africa.

At the end of the tournament South Africa finished in first place, Kenya second, Uganda third and Madagascar fourth.

Meanwhile, Ghana placed seventh after recording two wins and four losses.
