    Legendary Ghanaian boxer, Clement Ike Quartey, Legendary Ghanaian boxer, Clement Ike Quartey,

    Clement Ike Quartey, an iconic figure in Ghanaian boxing, has passed away on November 2, 2024, in the United Kingdom.

    Reports from sources at the Ghana Boxing Authority have confirmed the death of the legendary boxer at the age of 54.

    Currently, the cause of his unfortunate demise has not been revealed.

    Ike Quartey competed professionally in boxing from 1988 to 2006, participating in 42 bouts.

    He held a record of 37 wins, 4 losses, and one draw. He won an impressive 31 of his bouts by knockout.

    Quartey, known by his ring name ‘Bazooka’, competed in the WBA welterweight, light-welterweight, and light-middleweight divisions.

    The peak of his illustrious career was holding the WBA welterweight title for four years, from 1994 to 1998. In his prime, he was highly regarded for his exceptional jabs.

    One of his most famous fights was against retired American boxer Oscar De La Hoya at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas in 1999.

    He also holds the distinction of being Ghana’s first-ever Olympic medalist, winning silver in Rome in 1960.
