The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (IMC) has stated that its ability to keep boxing activities in Ghana running despite challenges is a major achievement, following the extension of its mandate.
The committee, which worked from September 2025 to February 2026, noted that it sanctioned numerous international boxing bouts to keep Ghana visible on the global stage.
It also indicated that it revised medical and anti-doping protocols to ensure boxers are fit for bouts, thereby promoting fairness.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Accra Sports Stadium on February 24, 2026, the Chairman of the GBIMC, Samir Captan, highlighted their achievements as follows:
– Restored professional boxing after suspension;
– Developed and piloted revised medical & anti-doping protocols;
– Approved Medical & Anti-Doping Protocols (Black Book) nearing completion;
– Piloted boxer insurance partnerships;
– Organized landmark events;
– Tarkwa Boxing Explosion;
– Legacy Rise Showdown;
– Battle of Gbagladza;
– Cabic Big Fight Night;
– RBS’s Boxing Masterpiece;
– Best of Bukom II;
– Finalized framework for an Independent Medical Commission;
– Initiated digital health database & portal testing;
– Engaged stakeholders in governance, legal, and operational reforms;
– Investigated indiscipline among stakeholders and delivered decisive disciplinary verdicts;
– Submitted detailed progress reports to the NSA & MoSR.
Reforms undertaken so far are incorporation, licensing, insurance rollout, medical protocols, portal launch, constitutional amendments, stakeholder re-registration, regional clinics, and training workshops.
On the election phase, nominations, vetting, campaigns, congress and elections will take place on June 2, while the official handover is scheduled for June 4, 2026.
The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, expressed delight with the work of the GBIMC in stabilising boxing activities in the country.
He urged the committee to remain focused on discharging its duties and to conduct credible elections.
