The President of Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseini, has officially inaugurated a committee to run the financial affairs of the association.
The committee inaugurated on November 25, 2026, has been tasked with seeking sponsorships and managing financial matters, particularly for major athletics events for the next four years.
Speaking at the inauguration held at the Ghana Athletics office in Accra, Bawa Fuseini expressed confidence that the committee members, with their vast experience in finance, would deliver.
“With the development and growth of athletics, there is the need for us to establish formidable committees to support the executive committee in running the association effectively. The responsibility of this committee is to budget for all Ghana Athletics activities, plan programmes, secure funding, manage funds, conduct audits, and submit accounts to World Athletics every year.”
“This is a very serious task, and we have selected very capable people to handle it. Because it is the main committee, we did not want to appoint just anyone. We chose serious and like-minded individuals whom we believe can achieve the aims of this committee,” he told GhanaWeb Sports.
The Chairman of the Committee, Amankrah Darko, expressed gratitude to Ghana Athletics for the opportunity bestowed upon them.
He assured that the committee would work diligently to achieve its targets and help athletics thrive in the country.
“We are most grateful for this opportunity to serve in another capacity within Ghana Athletics. As you rightly mentioned, the work will not be easy, but we believe that with hard work and dedication, we will achieve our goals. Ghana Athletics has continued to rise.”
“At the last SWAG Awards, we kept winning, and we do not want to fall behind. We want to continue progressing as Ghana Athletics. We look forward to next year when we will take stock of our achievements and say that we have met and even exceeded our aims,” he added.
The members of the committee include: Christopher Amankrah Darko – Chairman, Prof. Francis Dodoo, Andrew Agbo-Kitcher, Zachariah Suleman Yeboah and Sarfo Kantanka Akwasi.
