Ghana and Singapore have signed two key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation during President John Dramani Mahama‘s state visit.

The agreements were signed following a meeting between President Mahama and Singapore’s President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam. President Mahama also held a separate meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong.

The first MoU, between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both nations, was signed by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. This agreement aims to bolster diplomatic collaboration and promote mutual interests in international forums.

The second MoU, between the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), was signed by GIPC CEO Simon Maadjie and SCE CEO Kong Wy Mun. This agreement is expected to foster economic cooperation and encourage investment opportunities between the two countries.

The signing ceremony was officially witnessed by President Mahama and Prime Minister Wong, marking a significant milestone in Ghana–Singapore relations.

These agreements underscore both countries’ commitment to building stronger ties in diplomacy, trade, and investment, paving the way for expanded collaboration in the years ahead.
