Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has clarified that the GH₵1 million promised to each Ghana Premier League club ahead of the 2025/26 season is not government-funded, but rather sourced from a new private broadcast deal.

This follows growing public curiosity about the source of the funding announced during the unveiling of a partnership between the GFA and Adesa Productions Limited on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Speaking on Sporty FM, the GFA’s Director of Communications emphasised that the financial boost stems solely from the media rights agreement and is not tied to any state support.

“The GHC 1 million for each club from the new broadcast deal is coming from the partnership between GFA and Adesa Productions Limited, not from the government,” he stated.

The GHS 1 million allocation is part of a larger investment package intended to strengthen the local league’s competitiveness and visibility through enhanced broadcast production.

The partnership will see Adesa Productions produce live Ghana Premier League content throughout the 2025/26 season, a move expected to improve coverage quality and audience engagement.

GFA President Kurt Okraku also revealed that the deal includes performance-based rewards to motivate clubs throughout the campaign.
