The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to retain Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars despite the team’s terrible performance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

According to ghanasoccernet.com, the GFA want Otto Addo to manage the team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will resume in March 2024.

The report added that despite the vehement public criticisms the coach has faced, the GFA Executive Council members are solidly behind Otto Addo to turn the fortunes of the team around.

Many Ghanaians and sports personalities have called for Otto Addo to be relieved of his coaching role to help the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a new manager.

Ghana lost three, drew three and won none of their six matches played in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The team finished bottom of Group F with just three points, while Sudan and Angola qualified from the group.

It marks the first time in 20 years the Black Stars have not qualified for the AFCON.
