The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has handed Hohoe United FC a three-season ban from all official competitions, following the club’s abrupt withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League.
The sanction means Hohoe United will be suspended from all GFA-organised competitions until the 2029/2030 football season. In addition to the ban, the club has also been demoted and will compete in Division Two under the Greater Accra Regional Football Association once the suspension period is completed.
The decision underscores the GFA’s strict stance on clubs that fail to honour their participation obligations in national competitions. Officials believe the ruling will serve as a deterrent to other teams and help maintain discipline across the domestic game.
Hohoe United have been given a three-day window to appeal the decision. It remains to be seen whether the club will challenge the ruling or accept the sanctions imposed.
