The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has bolstered the Black Stars’ technical bench with five new appointments, as momentum gathers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The move, made in consultation with key stakeholders, is designed to sharpen the team’s competitive edge and deepen expertise across coaching, analysis and player performance ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

French coach Alain Ravera has been named assistant coach, adding international experience from his previous roles with Guinea and French side AS Monaco.

He will work alongside Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, who recently led Ghana’s women’s national team to a third-place finish at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the next edition.

Spanish tactician José Daniel Martínez Alfonso joins to enhance scouting and performance analysis.

He currently serves as an assistant coach and video analyst with MLS club Atlanta FC.

The medical department has also been strengthened with the return of physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, who was part of Ghana’s backroom staff at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Completing the list is British-born Ghanaian performance specialist Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, tasked with overseeing fitness and conditioning.

The quintet will work closely with head coach Otto Addo and his existing staff as Ghana builds toward a strong showing at the 2026 global showpiece.
