The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finalized a new two-year sponsorship agreement with KGL, valued at 20 million Ghana cedis, to support the Black Stars.

This deal marks a significant renewal following the expiration of the previous four-year contract worth 14 million Ghana cedis. The renewed partnership is set to run until 2027, ensuring sustained backing for Ghana’s national football team.

The announcement was made at the KGL head office in Accra on Monday, April 27, 2025, where Alex Apau Dadey, Executive Chairman of the KGL Group, expressed his enthusiasm about continuing the partnership.

He highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the renewal, noting discussions with the Minister of Sports and the GFA President.

Dadey emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting sports development and the importance of corporate responsibility in contributing to national progress.

Alex Apau Dadey praised the role of the Sports Minister in motivating the partnership, stating that their shared vision and leadership have been instrumental.

“I spoke with the minister and we decided that this would be the right time to sit down and discuss it together with the GFA President. One assurance I can give is that we’ll support the leadership of the Sports Ministry.

The minister pushed us very hard to come on board, reminding us about our responsibility as corporate citizens, and Kurt’s stewardship has shown us that the resources will be put to good use,” Alex Apau Dadey said.

GFA President Kurt Okraku, speaking publicly for the first time since his appointment as CAF Second Vice President, expressed gratitude to KGL for their unwavering support.

He acknowledged the vital role that corporate sponsors like KGL play in advancing Ghana football beyond its current achievements.

“We appreciate your commitment to helping Ghana football progress beyond where it is now. We believe your investment will benefit not only the national team but the entire football ecosystem. We will ensure that the resources invested are put to good use,” Kurt Okraku mentioned.

This partnership signifies a new chapter for Ghana football, with increased financial backing expected to enhance the national team’s prospects and develop grassroots initiatives.

Both the GFA and KGL are optimistic that their collaboration will foster sustainable growth and help Ghana maintain its competitive edge in African and international football.
