The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has called on fans to rally behind the Black Stars as they prepare to face Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars continue their quest to secure a spot at the 2026 World Cup, with upcoming matches against Chad in Accra and Madagascar in Morocco on March 21 and 24, 2025, respectively.

Despite high hopes of qualification, the team’s failure to secure a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has left many fans disconnected and disheartened.

However, speaking to supporters who welcomed him at Kotoka International Airport after attending the CAF Congress in Cairo, Egypt where he was elected to represent WAFU Zone B on the CAF Executive Committee, Okraku urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team.

“The players need our support and unity, and the strength and love you showed today should be replicated to support them. If we can do the same thing on Friday and the 25th, the Black Stars will be victorious,” Okraku said.

He further emphasised the importance of a victory, stating that the success of the national team brings joy and unity to the country.

“We all need the victory because when they win, there is happiness, work, and love in the country. So, it is up to us to support them with prayers and everything so that they can give us the victory,” he added.

The Black Stars currently sit second in their group with nine points after four games, trailing behind group leaders Comoros.
