Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Saani Daara, has urged caution in the appointment of a new Black Stars head coach following the dismissal of Otto Addo.

His comments come after Ghana’s back-to-back defeats to Austria and Germany during the March international friendlies, results that led to Otto Addo’s exit. Speaking in an interview, Saani Daara stressed the need for a well-thought-out decision rather than a rushed appointment.

He noted that although there is pressure to name a new coach ahead of upcoming fixtures, the GFA must focus on long-term stability and development, especially with a youthful squad. According to him, the next coach must be capable of building a competitive team not only for the FIFA World Cup but also for sustained future success.

Meanwhile, GFA President Kurt Okraku has revealed that over 600 applications have already been received for the vacant position, with a new coach expected to be appointed within two weeks.

The Black Stars are scheduled to regroup in May for friendly matches against Mexico and Wales as part of preparations for the tournament.
