The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are rumored to have commenced engagement with a German coach following concerns about the competence of Black Stars coach, Otto Addo.

According to Asemp FM, Kurt Okraku, during his recent visit to Germany, held meetings with a German coach with the aim of adding him to the Black Stars technical team.

The report indicates that while Otto Addo will not be dismissed, the new German coach will have a prominent role in the team as he is believed to be more experienced and skilled than Otto Addo.

While the new coach will not have an official designation, he will join the backroom staff and help steer the team in the right direction.

It is speculated that there is an acceptance within the GFA that the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is out of reach for the Black Stars.

However, massive efforts will be put in to ensure that the team qualifies for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, Canada, and the United States of America (USA).

While the GFA are determined to keep Otto Addo, they could be forced to fire him if the Black Stars are unable to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Otto Addo’s future has become a subject of concern following Ghana’s poor performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars are yet to win any of their four matches, with two draws and two defeats so far.

Ghana lost to Angola at home and bowed to Sudan away on October 15, 2024, in Libya. The Black Stars drew with Sudan at home on October 10 and also drew with Niger.

With two points from the games, Ghana is third while Angola leads the group with ten points from four matches. Sudan is second with seven points.
