Owner of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has disclosed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) demanded a percentage of the $100,000 given to them during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to him, each member of the Black Stars management committee during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar received $100,000. However, some GFA officials asked for a 50% kickback of the money.

He indicated that when one of the officials called him, they requested the amount to be given to some individuals who did not attend the World Cup, but failed to reveal their identities.

Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Alhaji Grusah expressed concern about the situation, questioning some decisions made by the GFA.

“I was the one who made it public that we received $100,000 because people did not want to disclose it. After we were given the money, the GFA wanted a 50% kickback.

“They called me and said they wanted to share it with some people who did not go to the World Cup, but that was not the original arrangement. If you were born in Ghana, pray to God to give you daily bread because it is not easy,” he said.

There were public criticisms when it became known that the GFA had allocated $100,000 to Black Stars management committee members despite the team’s poor performance in the 2022 World Cup.

The Black Stars were kicked out of the group phase of the tournament after winning one of three matches played. The team lost to Portugal and Uruguay and picked their only win against South Korea in Group H.
