The proposal to extend the term limit of presidents of the Ghana Football Association from two to three has been accepted at the 31st Ordinary Congress of the GFA.

The proposal, according to multiple media reports, received massive endorsements from members who were present at the 31st Ordinary Congress of the GFA on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence at Prampram.

This decision is a welcoming one for the current president of the FA, Kurt Okraku, who might seek a third term after he ends his current tenure as the head of the football governing body in Ghana in 2027.

Congress has also voted to accept the proposal to have two vice presidents of the Ghana Football Association, with one of the seats reserved exclusively for women.

Over 90 percent of the members voted in favor of the motion to extend the term limits of GFA presidents from two to three and also for the association to get a female vice president.

This new development of three terms for the president of the GFA now bring GFA’s governance structure in line with FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
