The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, on Wednesday July 30, 2025.

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s offices, focused on exploring collaborative opportunities between the two institutions to create jobs and empower Ghana’s youth through football.

Okraku was accompanied by Executive Council Members Samuel Aboabire and Eugene Nobel Noel, and the FA’s Business Development Manager, Janice Odonkor.

The GFA President underscored the natural synergy between football and employment, describing the sport as a vehicle for youth development, job creation, and social mobility.

He noted football’s broad reach in communities and its ability to engage and empower young people.

“For us in football, we offer opportunities to young boys and girls, using our vast scouting network to identify, nurture and promote talent in every corner of our dear country,” he said

Dr Pelpuo welcomed the delegation and praised the initiative, expressing the Ministry’s readiness to work with the GFA to develop innovative, sport-based employment programmes.

Both parties are expected to identify actionable areas of cooperation to promote youth empowerment through the football value chain.
