    German President visits Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to honor Ghana’s first president

    The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on Monday paid a solemn visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra as part of his official working visit to Ghana.

    The visit was to honour the memory and enduring legacy of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

    President Steinmeier was accompanied by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

    The delegation was received at the park by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Yussif Issaka Jajah, alongside the Director of Culture and Creative Arts, Devine Owusu Ansah, and the Executive Director of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Dr Collins Rawlings Nunyoname.

    During the brief ceremony, President Steinmeier laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Dr Nkrumah as a mark of respect and recognition of his pivotal role in Ghana’s independence and the Pan-African movement.

    He also signed the visitors’ book to commemorate the occasion.

    The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, one of Ghana’s most significant heritage and tourist sites, continues to attract dignitaries and visitors from across the world who visit to pay tribute to the nation’s founding father and his contributions to Africa’s liberation.

    President Steinmeier’s visits form part of broader bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening relations between Ghana and Germany and exploring new areas of cooperation and partnership between the two nations.
