Daniel Krull, the German Ambassador to Ghana, has paid a courtesy visit on the Minister of Climate Change and Sustainability, Seidu Issifu, to discuss Ghana’s climate agenda and explore opportunities for collaboration.

The visit was also an opportunity for Ambassador Krull to congratulate the minister on his historic appointment as the first Minister of Climate Change and Sustainability, describing it as a bold and visionary move by the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

“This appointment demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to tackling climate change with a dedicated and strategic approach. Germany remains a strong partner in this journey, offering support through financing facilities and initiatives that promote climate resilience and sustainability,” the ambassador said.

During their discussions, the two leaders reflected on the longstanding cooperation between Ghana and Germany, particularly in areas of climate adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development.

Ambassador Krull highlighted Germany’s various financing mechanisms and initiatives aimed at supporting climate action in Ghana.

He expressed his country’s readiness to work with the minister’s office in addressing climate vulnerabilities through joint programs and capacity-building efforts.

Seidu Issifu expressed gratitude for the ambassador’s visit and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with international partners.

He emphasized the importance of capacity building and securing sustainable funding to drive meaningful climate action.

“My office is open and committed to fostering deeper partnerships that will enhance Ghana’s resilience against climate change. We need to work together to ensure that adaptation and mitigation efforts effectively address the vulnerabilities affecting our people and environment,” the minister said.

The discussions underscored the shared commitment of both countries to tackling climate change and promoting sustainable development.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both leaders expressing optimism about future collaborations to build a greener and more resilient Ghana.
