A former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has detailed the sponsorship funds President Kurt Okraku has been receiving from football governing bodies over the past four years.

According to him, a document he intercepted showed that the GFA has been receiving annual funds meant to sponsor the activities of various clubs from 2020 to 2024.

The former GFA vice president indicated that the Kurt Okraku-led GFA administration has received a total of $7.5 million in four years from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) alone.

“I will also share how much we receive from PUMA and CAF as our number one sponsor. In 2020, when Kurt assumed office, he received $1 million from FIFA, $500,000 for special projects, and $200,000 for equipment, so in that year alone he got $1.7 million.

“In 2021, he got $1.8 million; in 2022, he received $1.7 million; and in 2024, he got $2.3 million, which sums up to $7.5 million in total,” he said in Twi while speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM.

Afriyie further stated that he will share the document with various league club owners to make them aware of the funds the GFA receives from sponsorship deals and football governing bodies.

“For those football club owners who are not aware, in the coming days, I am going to share with them how much Kurt has been receiving from FIFA as a way of supporting the mother body, so that they will know if the GFA is doing something for them, it is not his own money,” he added.

Afriyie has been a strong critic of the GFA over the years.
