Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has criticised GFA President Kurt Okraku’s management style, attributing the Black Stars’ decline in recent years to poor leadership.

Following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), many have pointed fingers at Kurt for mismanagement.

In an interview with Connect FM, the former Black Stars Management Committee Chairman accused Kurt of experimenting with the team.

“The number one sporting brand in Ghana is the Black Stars, and Kurt Okraku, together with his cohorts, is experimenting with it,” he said.

George Afriyie also called on Kurt to apologise for the team’s AFCON failure and encouraged him to be more receptive to advice.

“Kurt Okraku should eat humble pie and apologise to Ghanaians. Stop acting like a know-it-all and listen to advice. Kurt Okraku thinks he is smarter and more intelligent than everyone,” he added.

The Black Stars failed to win any of their six AFCON qualifying matches, finishing bottom of their group. This marks the first time in two decades that Ghana will miss the tournament.

With Ghanaians demanding reforms, the Executive Council of the Black Stars is set to meet today, 20 November 2024, to address pressing issues concerning the team.
