Gender Ministry mourns victims of Kete Krachi boat tragedy

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic boat accident that occurred near Kete Krachi in the Oti Region, which claimed the lives of fifteen people, including eleven children.

In a message of condolence, the Ministry extended its heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, survivors, and the entire Kete Krachi community.

It described the accident as a national tragedy, especially because it claimed the lives of many children with bright futures.

The Ministry assured affected families of its support through the relevant agencies and commended the Ghana Maritime Authority and emergency response teams for their swift intervention and ongoing investigations into the cause of the disaster.

It urged stakeholders in the water transport sector to strictly enforce safety measures to prevent future tragedies.

The Ministry called on local authorities, boat operators, and community leaders to ensure passengers wear life jackets and to avoid overloading boats.

The Ministry further stressed the need for stronger safety regulations to protect lives, especially those of children.

It prayed for comfort and strength for the families and the Kete Krachi community during this difficult time.
