Cape Coast – The Gallant Cadres of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to urgently prioritize the dechemicalization of all polluted water bodies across the country to ensure the continued availability of clean and safe water for all Ghanaians.

In a statement issued and signed by the group on Tuesday, February 16, 2026, the Cadres emphasized that, in alignment with the EPA’s core mandate to manage, protect, and enhance the nation’s environment, they are heeding the agency’s rallying call to safeguard Ghana’s precious water resources as a matter of urgency.

The group noted that as Ghana confronts mounting environmental threats—including pollution from plastic waste and the escalating impacts of climate change—it has become imperative for the Gallant Cadres to join hands with the EPA in protecting the country’s water bodies for the sake of public health, food security, and economic growth.

Highlighting the risks associated with water pollution, the Cadres outlined several critical consequences: contaminated water leads to diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea; polluted water destroys aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity; the lack of clean water undermines agriculture and food production; and plastic pollutants devastate marine life and pollute oceans.

In conclusion, the Gallant Cadres reaffirmed their support for the EPA and called on all Ghanaians to join forces in protecting the nation’s water resources for future generations. “Together, we can ensure a healthy, thriving Ghana tomorrow,” they emphasized.
